Cher Says Chaz Bono's 'Dancing With the Stars' Quickstep Is "About As Scary" As His "Change"
Cher wants everyone to know she is standing strong behind her son Chaz Bono, against all the hate and negative feedback stemming from his Dancing With the Stars gig. Chaz sat down with Ellen DeGeneres, in an interview airing today on Ellen, and opens up about all the buzz surrounding his dance floor debut and gets some backup from his famous mom, who calls in to set the record straight!
Cher is hesitant to completely lash out on those who say they will protest the hit ABC competition because of Chaz's presence, but takes a firm stance on the issue.
"If you got that excess time and that amount of hostility, I'm not so sure that I can say anything to you that would make you change your feelings," Cher said to Ellen and her audience. "I don't know that I would have any magic words to make you feel more comfortable and to soothe you into not being terrified of my child dancing on Dancing With the F---ing Stars."
Both Chaz and Cher aren't going to let the hate break them down, but they are a bit scared of the dancing!
"My first dance is pretty good now, the cha-cha," Chaz shared. "The quickstep gives me nightmares, but I'm starting to feel pretty confident. We did it for some of the other people on the show today and they seem to really like it."
"I got to tell you something," Cher chimed in. "You doing this dance is about as scary as you making 'the change.' "
